Children’s Ministry is designed to provide a safe, warm, caring environment for your child. Our goal has been to develop a program of Christ-centered, age-appropriate Biblical instruction. Every care has been taken to ensure that the adults serving in Children’s Ministry are mature Christians who are faithful to the ministry of our fellowship and have a desire to minister whole heartedly to our children.

At metrocalvary Children’s Ministry is provided during both our Sunday morning and Monday evening services. During our Sunday morning service the children are divided into four groups: Nursery/Toddlers, Pre-K, Kindergarten through 2nd Grade, and 3rd through 5th Grade. During our Monday evening service the Kindergarten through 2nd Grade is combined with the 3rd through 5th Grade.

On Sunday morning all the children - kindergarten through 5th grade - meet together for the first part of the day when they have their own “children’s church.” As they enter the Children’s Ministry Theater they are greeted by Children’s Ministry workers waiting to help them know and love Jesus more. As they enter they also see a stage set with props in place, and at the center is a large, brightly-colored puppet stage. “Children’s Church” begins with songs of praise led by a worship band.

The time of worship is followed by a time of instruction based on the day’s Bible story and memory verse. Our teaching program takes the children through the entire Bible - from Genesis to Revelation - in approximately three years. The content of the Bible instruction forms the basis for the remainder of the day’s activities.

The children are then treated to the day’s Bible story told through a dramatic play with full costumes and props. Our characters are played by adult Children’s Ministry workers, teenagers borrowed from the Jr. High and High School group,  and extras from the audience (when appropriate); often the entire group participates in the skit.

Following the play the lights are lowered and a spotlight shines on the puppet stage for the appearance of The NUTS FOR JESUS - a group of four over-sized hand puppets in the shape of nuts. The NUTS perform a skit to prerecorded audio tracks. The skit makes real life application of the principles taught in the Bible story.
The time in the Children’s Ministry Theater is concluded with another short time of instruction and a time of prayer. The children then move into their Sunday School class time. The group is divided into two classes: Kindergarten through 2nd Grade and 3rd through 5th Grade.

In the Pre-K room the children enjoy a safe and caring environment in which they can play and interact with children’s ministry staff and other children. Their time is filled with singing, Bible stories, paper crafts, puppet skits, snack time, and play time.

the program for nursery/toddler

In the Nursery our smallest children enjoy a safe and caring environment in which they can play and interact with Children’s Ministry workers and other children. Their time is filled with music, Bible stories, and play time.

the program for monday night @ metro

During the Monday evening service the Nursery/Toddler and Pre-K classes are substantially the same as they are on Sunday morning. The Kindergarten through 5th grade provides a number of activities for the children. This ministry time includes a complete Bible story with a full-color, traditional flannel graph presentation and practical application for the children. The children are also provided with an appropriate video to reinforce the teaching time. On Monday evening the children have ample time to play together. We have provided a number of arcade-style table games as well.
